Teaching
As a teaching artist at the Rose Theater, I had the pleasure of teaching hundreds of kids over the course of a year. During day camps, evening classes, and in-school residencies the students and I worked together to build creative worlds through tools such as role drama, acting games, and planned activities that support topics learned in school, examples being Women in Science and How Anansi and Aso Brough Stories to the World.

At the Rose, I gained experience in:
-
Creative Drama
-
Role Drama
-
Classroom Manangement
-
Uplifting Ideas
-
Imaginative Exploration in multiple art mediums

Direction
During my time at the Rose Theater I co-directed multiple projects, which included students ranging ages 8-18. Whether the project was a silly Grimm Fairytale parody or poetic devised work expressing the life of a teenager in Omaha, Nebraska at this time in history, each one allowed the students to take creative control of their work and grow as artists through safe and structured rehearsals. In addition, I learned a lot about myself as a teacher and director through these projects - kids tend to teach you a lot right back if you let them.

Performance
There is nothing like seeing a child's face light up as they experience the magic of live theater! In addition to my teaching artist duties at the Rose, I performed as a member of the company in two shows: Ode to Toy by Jay Hayden & Carina DuMarce and The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales by John Glore, and Charlotte's Web, adapted by Joseph Robinette. I grew exponentially as an artist while portraying these roles because I was permitted to just go nuts and be big, bold, animated, and loud as I kept kids as young as one engaged in the magic of the stories.
